DVI Podcast 069 - Interview with Dot Dot Dot

Sorry this one's a bit late. Call it Holi-DAZE... Oh well, back to work, slacker!

Dot on Fox edited

My guests this week are members of the Chicago band Dot Dot Dot. They came in 5th place on Fox TV network's Next Great American Band.

I can't wait for them to come to Vegas! Or maybe I can make it back east for a show.

Check out the show's MP3 FILE here.

California Bluegrass - Dvi Podcast 068 - Interview with Cliff Wagner And The Old Number 7

I'm really starting to enjoy this relationship I'm building with Fox. I like the show The Next Great American Band and all, but I'm always left unsatisfied. I never get to see a band for more than a few seconds during interview footage, and only for a minute and a half while they're on stage. Granted, they have a lot of ground to cover in a very short amount of time, so I'm happy to be able to talk to these bands as long as we want here on the podcast.

My guests this week are members of Cliff Wagner and the Old Number 7. I was very surprised they were voted off the show so soon. I thought they definitely had the talent and the chops to make it much further than they actually did. I think their rendition of "Poison Ivy" was great. I really liked the way they turned Billy Joel's "You May Be Right" into something of their own.

Cliff, Devitt, and Craig join me for episode 068. You can download the show's MP3 FILE here. (right click and "save as...")

Their Website, and their Myspace Page.

And finally, I don't go much for special shows, like holiday specials, or year-end retrospectives, so I won't bore you with one of those. I do want to say to everyone though: Have a merry Christmas, or whatever holiday you celebrate. Also, have a happy and prosperous New Year.

-Paulie

DVI Podcast 067 - Franklin Bridge Interview

DVI POdcast 049 - On Vacation

I am on vacation this week. I hope it rains. Seriously. The average daily temperature in Las Vegas this time of year is between 105 and 110 degrees fahrenheit. The sun is absolutely brutal, and going outside too long in the summertime can kill you. It rains here, literally, a handfull (5 or less) times a year. To be honest, I've had it up to here with hot and sunny. We are renting a beach house in the Pacific northwest, and the projected weather is cloudy, rainy and foggy, with temperatures of 65-70 degrees.

Most people would think that would make for a wretched holiday. Not us. Long pants, sweaters, books, shopping, lots of fresh seafood and local produce. Oh yeah! Don't forget the local wineries and breweries!

I'll be back next week with a whole new batch of interviews from independent artists, fro Las Vegas, and from around the world.

Here are some of the tunes I'm listening to on my mp3 player as I travel:

DVI Podcast 047 - B-Sides & Misc.

I had to revert to the old show format this week. The band I had lined up decided NOT to release to me mp3's of the songs we were going to play, choosing instead to re-record the vocals, remix, and get back to me next week. As disappointing and inconvenient as this is, I completely understand. Personally, I would not want to release a product until I knew it was "just right". I don't have any other interviews "in the can" and ready to move up in the rotation, so I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to play some of the music from past interview-ees that didn't make it on their respective episodes. One, though is a song that I have grown to love that already was on an episode, and I did add one extra tune on the end from a band that I would loooooove to have on the show.

After a wait that seemed like forever, I am finally back in business. The DigiVegas Indie Podcast begins anew with music from Breech, Anthony Stauffer & The Holy Smoke, Blood Bank, and Absolution Project.

I will be changing the format of the show soon. Rather than virtually pummeling the listener with a single song from a large number of artists per episode, I have decided to streamline things. The first half of the show will be dedicated to one single artist. I will play three or four songs by that one artist, as well as presenting an interview/conversation with the band.

After a brief break for promos, PSA’s, and hopefully, a paid ad or two (sponsors??? I wish!), another new feature of the podcast will be “The DigiVegas Gig Guide”, a rundown of upcoming shows here in Sin City. It will concentrate on what’s happening in the local scene and not so much on what’s happening on the strip, or on shows that already have millions of dollars backing them up. This is for the independent artists out there.

ATTENTION! ALL INDEPENDENT BANDS AND MUSICAL ARTISTS! Interested in having you and your material featured on the podcast? Email me at paulie@digivegaspodcast.com. You can also message me through the show’s myspace page. And, if that’s not enough, you can call the show’s Skype-in line at 702-425-3263 and leave me a voice mail message.

It’s good to be back. I hope you feel the same about me!

-Paulie
