DVI Podcast 056 - The Shakes

DVI Podcast 056 - The Shakes

My guests this week are members of the band The Shakes, from SE London. They have built a massive following through savvy marketing, and using the internet as the powerful tool that it is. They have already earned two #1 singles on Internet Music Charts with Liberty Jones, and their follow-up I Want A Better Life.

Ed and Tim from the band talk with Paulie about the music, what they do to promote it, as well as the production of their upcoming debut album.

Although live is the best way to experience the band, most of us don't have that opportunity. Thankfully there are podcasts, like this one, on the internet.

DVI Podcast 050 - Tony Marriott

I suppose that reaching the 50 episode mark should be cause for some sort of celebration. To be perfectly honest, I don't have the time, nor the patience. I've nevr been big on "anniversary specials". Instead I'd rather just keep working on bringing you the best independent, podsafe music I can find every week.

tony This week, My guest is Tony Marriott, from Vancouver, BC, Canada. He just released his latest CD entitled Solitude. Tony joins us to discuss not only this CD, but some of his previous works as well.

You can purchase Solitude at CD Baby. You can check out Tony's web pages at www.tonymarriott.net, and www.myspace.com/tonymarriott.

DVI POdcast 049 - On Vacation

I am on vacation this week. I hope it rains. Seriously. The average daily temperature in Las Vegas this time of year is between 105 and 110 degrees fahrenheit. The sun is absolutely brutal, and going outside too long in the summertime can kill you. It rains here, literally, a handfull (5 or less) times a year. To be honest, I've had it up to here with hot and sunny. We are renting a beach house in the Pacific northwest, and the projected weather is cloudy, rainy and foggy, with temperatures of 65-70 degrees.

Most people would think that would make for a wretched holiday. Not us. Long pants, sweaters, books, shopping, lots of fresh seafood and local produce. Oh yeah! Don't forget the local wineries and breweries!

I'll be back next week with a whole new batch of interviews from independent artists, fro Las Vegas, and from around the world.

Here are some of the tunes I'm listening to on my mp3 player as I travel:

The Hoolapoppers - Maplight

The Hoolapoppers - Open Road (version #2)

The Culture Bandits - Jamaica

The Offramps - Hallmark Holiday

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Yalla Yalla

Vittoria Conn - Turn This Boat Around

Remember, if you like the music you hear, support those artists by buying their music!

...And don't forget to tell them Paulie sent you!

DVI Podcast 047 - B-Sides & Misc.

I had to revert to the old show format this week. The band I had lined up decided NOT to release to me mp3's of the songs we were going to play, choosing instead to re-record the vocals, remix, and get back to me next week. As disappointing and inconvenient as this is, I completely understand. Personally, I would not want to release a product until I knew it was "just right". I don't have any other interviews "in the can" and ready to move up in the rotation, so I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to play some of the music from past interview-ees that didn't make it on their respective episodes. One, though is a song that I have grown to love that already was on an episode, and I did add one extra tune on the end from a band that I would loooooove to have on the show.
