STOLEN BAND VAN AND GEAR - DVI Podcast 096 - The Stript

What could possibly be the most heinous, despicable thing you could ever do to a group of musicians short of cutting off their fingers?
After a recent gig, Las Vegas band The Stript had their band van stolen with all their gear in it: Guitars, amps, drums, everything!

Jillian's, on Fremont Street will be hosting a benefit concert this Sunday nightJune 29th, to help them recoup some of their losses. It's going to take a hell of a lot more though, than just one show to make it all up, so please do whatever you can to help, even if you don't live in Las Vegas.

Even if you can't make it to the show, please donate a couple bucks by clicking on the link below.

Oh yeah, the show...DigiVgeas. Brian Lerner, the guitar player from the band joins me this week, for a bit of music and conversation.

You can check The Stript out on their Myspace Page.

DVI Podcast 095 - Doop & The Inside Outlaws

Ready for some good ol' Motor City style Rock & Roll? My guest this week is up-and-coming singer-songwriter Don “Doop” Duprie and the Inside Outlaws... Born and raised in the industrial enclave of River Rouge, MI, this son of an auto mechanic and an Avon lady learned early on that hard work and doing the right thing always provided for his family. He just finished his debut album, Blood River, with legendary Detroit producer Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Mooney Suzuki). Each song tells the story of living life in a place that was once a burgeoning city and dealing with life’s trials and tribulations and has found fans in listeners who appreciate good honest music that comes from straight from the soul.

Doop was enough to send along a few extra copies of Blood River, as well as a few t-shirts. Call the DigiVegas Skype-In line at 702-425-3263 for your free copy. Don't forget to leave your mailing address.

You can check out Doop on his website or on his Myspace Page.

DVI Podcast 094 - Whitney Steele

My guest this week is singer/songwriter Whitney Steele. Her new EP is receiving much critical acclaim. She is nominated for several awards, including Female Singer/Songwriter Of The Year at The 2008 Phoenix Music Awards. Her song "You Won't See Me Crying" features members of The Gin Blossoms playing guitar and singing backups. It's never a dull moment when Whitney's around. One day she decided to pick up her guitar and head down to the Superbowl this year and busk for the crowds. She almost got arrested while crossing over the border into Canada for a gig. She almost broke her neck while jumping on a hotel bed...luckily we have it on video.

She was also kind enough to bring along a couple copies of her EP Whitney Steele. Call the DigiVegas Skype-In Line at 702-425-3263 for a chance to get your hands on a copy. Just leave us a message and tell us you want it. It's just that easy.

You can check out Whitney at her web site or at her Myspace page.

DVI Podcast 093 - Postmark Twain

My guest this week is Jim Gaven (center, with acoustic) from Postmark Twain, from Hamilton, NJ. They received much acclaim and created a big buzz with their first release Timing Is Everything in 2006. In December 2007 they released their follow up EP, “Cause and Effect”: a five song voyage about letting go, starting over, and moving on. After a year of solid songwriting, full band rehearsals, and the finishing touches of mastering engineer Michael Fossenkemper (Matisyahu, Over It, The Spill Canvas), Postmark Twain is looking forward with confidence, ready to gain new fans and expand its influence to anyone and everyone along the way.

Jim joins us vie skype and shares with us more detailed, inside information on the formation of the band, and what they will be up to this summer. He also has a few copies of Timing Is Everythig to give away to the audience, as well as a couple hand-made CD's of his solo work.

Call the DigiVegas Skype-In line at 702-425-3263. Leave us a message, tell us you want it, and don't forget to leave your mailing address. It's really that easy.

You can check out the band at their website, or on their myspace page.
